From October 2006

  • Normal retirement age considered to be 65.
  • Employees to be given 6 months notice of retirement.
  • Employers who try to force staff to retire earlier will be breaking the Law unles they can show justifably reasons.
  • Employees will have the right to ask to work beyond that date.
  • Employees will be able to claim for unfair dismissal/redundancy payments regardless of what age they are.
